There are Facebook, WhatsApp and Discord groups covering the main geographical areas in the SF Bay Area.
WhatsApp groups in the SF Bay Area are organised into Community Groups to aid discoverability of groups.
We are using this newer feature in WhatsApp to help with:
When you're in a Community Group, you can see all of the available group chats by their name, that are in that community group, and easily choose to join or leave them, while still staying in the community.
When you view the Community Group, at a glance you can see the most recent message in each group within.

Are the currently defined community groups that SingaporeConnect (SGC) administers. See below to join them.
If the chat group is already part of a community group, join the community group, or a chat group within that community group, and you'll be part of the community and able to see the other groups that you can join (in some cases the admin will have to approve you joining).
Not all the chat groups are part of a community group. You can directly join them, or the community group, via links in a restricted access Google Sheet.
It is restricted access because some of the chat groups don't have any admin approval to join, making them easy to self-join by bots and spammers, so there is this layer of vetting we do before granting you access to the sheet. Please request access to the list via this form:

You may own or am admin of a WhatsApp group chat for a specific interest or topic.
Make it easier for those who join a Community Group to discover your group chat and request to join your group. (It's up to you whether to let anyone to join your group or require an admin to approve joining, you can pick the level of control of who joins).
If you are owning or admin of a WhatsApp group that you'll like to add to a Community Group, here are two options:
Join the Community Group of interest. Self-request as admin of your group.
Add an admin in the SingaporeConnect Community Group you want to add your group to, as an admin in your group, then ask the admin to do it for you.
Choose Existing Community.
Select the desired SGC Community Group to add to.
An admin will review and add it to the group.
There are other chat groups that aren't WhatsApp-based. Most have their own approval mechanisms.
